Champions Crowned at the Labour Day Classic Sprint Car Weekend

The Labour Day Classic Sprint Car Weekend was two days of action-packed racing with two classes of sprint cars, Late models, Canadian Modifieds, Thunder Stocks, 4 Cylinders and Stingers, fans enjoyed some hard door to door racing on a very slick racetrack, making an exciting weekend for the fans, families and drivers.
With two nights on the race card for the Lawns We Do 360 Sprints, No. 15 of Ryan Turner started out 9 points ahead of Curran. Starting 6th, No. 11 Dale Curran drove his way to the front in an incredibly competitive field of cars. The No. 84 of Tyler Rand led the first 14 laps of the feature, holding off some stiff competition, but as the track slicked off the Curran was able to get by and never looked back for the last 6 laps. Top 5 include No. 31 of Curran, No. 21 of Kyle Phillips, No. 15 of Ryan Turner, No. 84 of Tyler Rand, and No. 70 of Baily Heard finishing 5th. Going into night two of the Labour Day Classic and the final points night, the action was even more intense. Local Legend No. 42w Rick Wilson drew poll position for the second time on the weekend, Curran started outside of row one and needed to stay ahead of Turner by four positions to secure the championship. Phillips took the lead from Wilson on lap 4 and held on until lap 19 of the 25-lap feature event when Turner snagged the top spot. Crossing the line behind Turner on night two was Curran, Phillips, No. 77 Tyeller Powless and No. 70MM Matt Billings. Turner accepted the feature win alongside the championship title in Victory Lane.
In the Crate Sprint Feature on night one, No. 5 Jacob Dykstra who started in the 5th position, battled through an incredibly competitive 5 cars to take the checkered flag in the 25 laps feature. No. 28T of Cam Thompson led the first 23 laps, with Dykstra making his move and getting by for the win. Rounding out the top 5 are the No. 5D of Jacob Dykstra, No. 28T of Cam Thompson, No. 92 of Adam Turner, No 87 of Andrew Hennessy and the No. 77 of Liam Ladoucer. Night two featured the most exciting race of the weekend with young gun No. 44 Connor Ross starting from the outside poll position and leading the A Main Event from start to finish. He battled through lap traffic and three restarts, with No. 5D Jacob Dykstra hot on his tale at the finish line. Ross, Dykstra, No. 1V Josh Verne, No. 87 Andrew Hennessey, and No. 28T Cam Thompson rounded out the top 5 of an exciting feature event.
The Brighton Automotive Thunder Stock division was competing in their last two points events on the season. On Saturday night the feature was an action packed 20 lap battle. The No.18 Kyle Anderson started on the pole and led the first 10 laps with a field of 24 cars battling for the lead. At the halfway mark of the feature, the No. 72 of Doug Anderson was able to get by and take the lead from his son. After the 72 of Anderson got the lead, there was no looking back as the checkered flag flew. Top 5 includes the No. 72 of Doug Anderson, the No. 0 of Tyler French, the No. 10 of Carter Rhodes, the No. 18 of Kyle Anderson, and the No. 03 of Justin Ramsay. Night two had visiting car No. 108 Zack Bleich and No. 10 Carter Rhodes on the front row of the 20-lap feature event. Off the start, Rhodes was able to take the lead and by lap 7 was lapping cars. The feature event had a solid 19 laps of action until the first and only caution was called. As the field lined up for the green, white, checkered, pressure from No. 44 Tommy Bailey made for an exciting finish, but Rhodes held out for his first feature finish in a Thunder Stock. Bailey, Bleich, No. 26 Brock Gregory and No. 0 Tyler French round out the top 5. Victory Lane was full of celebration for not only the No. 10, but French was crowned the 2025 Brighton Automotive Thunder Stock Champion.
It was on Saturday night, the No. 5 of Steve Baldwin started on the front row of the Vanderlaan Building Products Late Model Feature and never looked back. Baldwin was able to hold off some tough competition from the No. 11 of Kyle Sopaz early on, and the no. 46 of Brandon Mowat who started 14th and made his way through the field. Crossing the finish line behind the No. 5 of Steve Baldwin were the No. 46 of Brandon Mowat, No. 11 Kyle Sopaz, No. 9 Josh Black and No 57 Charlie Sandercock.
In the Bills Johns 4 Cylinder feature, the No. 2 of Trevyn McCrillis started on the pole and had a hard battle right from the drop of the green flag with the No. 42 of Aidan Fletcher. Fletcher took the lead on lap 3 and never looked back, even with the No. 22 of Tyson Gregory on his rear bumper battling for the lead. Top 5 includes the No. 42 of Aidan Fletcher, the No. 22 of Tyson Gregory, the No. 10 of Travis Mclean, the No. 4 of Shawn Knowlton, and the No. 24 of Travis Fox-Connor.
The Quinte Septic Stinger divisions 10 lap feature was an exciting battle as the No. 17 of Ryder Punchard who started 3rd took the lead early and led the first 4 laps. The No. 95c of Chris Lammle charged hard to the front from the 8th starting position and took the lead on lap 5 and never looked behind. Top 5 includes the No. 95c of Chris Lammle, the No. 18 of Brian Cross, the No. 93 of Jorden Pickell, the No. 35 of Ethan Lord, and the No.07 of Megan Golden.
New on the race card for Sunday night and day two of the Labour Day Classic was the Bainer’s OilGARD Anti Rust Canadian Modified division. The 25-lap feature event saw only one caution and yet another driver starts from the front row and hold off competitors to sweep the field. No, 1 Shawn Gregory took the checkers, followed by points leader No. 40 Ron Wadforth, No. 50 Dylan Boyle, No. 2 Leslie Mowat and No. 32 Doug O’Blenis.

September 6th will see the QBT Excavating final points night and the John’s Equipment 50 Lap Danny Reid Memorial event. The Vanderlaan Building Products Late Model Division, Bainer’s OilGARD Anti Rust Canadian Modifieds, Bill’s Johns 4 Cylinders, and the Quinte Septic Stingers will also round up their final points events. Front Gates on Saturday open at 5:00 PM and action begins at 7:00 PM.
