For Immediate Release

March 3, 2023

Promoters at Brighton Speedway are proud to announce that they have scheduled 22 action packed events for this upcoming race season. Following a very successful 2022 season, Mark and Angie Rinaldi continue to work hard to ensure that the fans and drivers are excited to return for the 2023 season!

Once again to get fans excited on the commencement of race season, Brighton Speedway will be hosting a car show at the Quinte Mall the week of April 17th-23rd during regular mall hours. Be sure to pop on by to get a sneak peek of some of the fresh race cars before they hit the track surface.

The season will kick off on Saturday May 6th with a bang featuring the Northeast Late Model Alliance Lid Lifter with a $2023 to win 40 lap main event.  The opening night will once again continue the tradition of being one of the largest fund raisers for the Brighton Fair Share Food Bank.  All spectators that bring a non-perishable food item to the speedway on this night will receive $5.00 off opening night admission.

The Southern Ontario Sprints will return for the first time in 2023 on the May long weekend with the first ever $2598 to win Paul Pekkonen Memorial Race.  Paul was a long-time supporter of both the SOS and Brighton Speedway, and we are happy to be hosting this event in his memory!  The SOS will return to Brighton five more times throughout the summer including the Labour Day Classic Sprint Car Double Header along with the Action Sprint Tour for two nights of action-packed sprint car racing.

Action will be nonstop all season long every Saturday night as our local hero’s do battle on the 1/3rd mile clay oval but some fan favourites returning in 2023 that you can look forward to include the School Bus Races on June 17th, Monster Trucks on July 22nd, and the MX Pro Riders on June 24th. The Vantastics will make three appearances throughout the season on May 27th, July 29th and August 26th while the popular Fan Appreciation events will be held on June 3rd and August 19th.

2023 will close out with the two biggest events on our schedule.  The 19th edition of the Applefest Shootout on September 22nd and 23rd which will again feature DIRTCar 358 Modified 75 Lap Applefest Shoot Out on Saturday with a full complement of other racing divisions throughout the weekend including Sportsman, Canadian Modified, NLMA Great Crate Race, Thunder Stock Duel in the Dirt and much more.  The Speedway will then shift the focus from bad fast race cars to an afternoon of chaos and excitement for the fan favourite EVE of DESTRUCTION on September 30th!  This event has been sold out the last two years in a row and for good reason.  The event features the 100 Lap Monster Enduro, School Bus Races, Trailer Races, Demo Derby and more.

As the warmer weather is in sight the excitement level is starting to rise.  Driver registration is already nearing the 2022 count with several new drivers and drivers moving up divisions!

With only 2 months till the drop of the green flag track staff is eagerly preparing to get to work on the 1/3rd mile clay oval on the shores of Lake Ontario for a dynamic and exciting season of dirt track action.
