Race fans were treated to a summer sizzler on Saturday night as 17 Northeast Late Model Alliance drivers dialled in for a second season appearance at Brighton Speedway.

The race program presented by Bellevue Fabricating and Deerhaven Power Sports also included a thrilling Kiwanis Club of Trenton Kart Klub Demo with 11 members showing off their strong driving skills.

Homan celebrates 100th LM victory

No. 9T Adam Turner and heat winner No. 3 Nathan Rinaldi led 16 late models to green in the Vanderlaan Building Products Northeast Late Model Alliance series 40-lap main event.  Turner had his work cut out for him as he tried to hold off the NLMA points leader.  The pair ran side-by-side and on the third lap Rinaldi passed Turner on the outside of Turn 2.  Rinaldi took off and looked like he was well on his way to securing his third NLMA win this year but No. 91 Chad Homan had much bigger plans.  Rinaldi went too high on the outside groove allowing Homan to push through to the lead from the inside on lap 28.  Glued to the bottom the driver from Rochester N.Y., muscled his way to the winner’s circle to celebrate his 100th Late Model career victory with Rinaldi in second.  Hardcharger and Campbellford Chrysler driver of the week, No. 57 Charlie Sandercock moved like the wind through the field from his 10th starting spot to finish third.  No. 151 Brian McDonald was fourth and No. 5 Steve Baldwin was fifth.

Wadforth Wins Number 5

No. 2 Leslie Mowat took 13 Bainer’s Oilgard Anti-Rust Canadian Modifieds to the green flag in the 25-lap affair.  She went wheel to wheel with points leader and returning champion No. 40 Ron Wadforth in an epic battle for the lead.  The two tossed the top spot back and forth until lapped traffic put them to the test.  Already coming off a heat win earlier in the night, Wadforth took advantage of an opening on the outside and pushed into the lead for the final time. He soared to his fifth season win with Mowat in second.  No. 1 Shawn Gregory with a hard-earned third-place finish, No. 51 Mike Freeman fourth and No. 5 Wally Alderdice fifth.

Bailey Triumphs For the Second Time

Heat winner No. 44 Tommy Bailey was flawless as he led 16 Bills John’s Comp 4s from start to finish in the 15-lap event.  No. 22X Tyson Gregory was a tough competitor but couldn’t get beyond Bailey’s back bumper.  Bailey parked it for the second time this season with Gregory in second.  No. 10X Brandon Gregory finished third, No. 46 Hayden Brown was fourth and No. 15 Josh Bogaard placed fifth.

Checkers Land on Lammle Again

The night’s first feature saw the Quinte Septic Stingers hit the track for the fourth time this season.  It was an eventful 15-lap affair with two black flags handed down to No. 17 Ryder Punchard and No. 67 Joshua Whitney for aggressive driving.  With four laps to go polesitter No. 47 Josh Sparks lost a wheel in Turn 4 leaving veteran Stinger driver No. 95C Chris Lammle to pick up his third checkers of the year.  Lammle was followed across the line by No. 31 Bill O’Hara, No. 93 Jorden Pickell, No. 9 Cooper McKeown and No. 07 Megan Golden respectively for the top five.
