For Immediate Release: Brighton Speedway
Back to the track on the shores of Lake Ontario, Brighton Speedway hosted the Throttle out Productions Monster Truck exhibition on Saturday night. A packed grandstand of fans was thrilled with the high impact action of Train Wreck and Sabotage. Driver’s Mat Briand and Dale Eve rocked the house with stunts and jumps, crushing cars and setting fans on the edge of their seats with a final jump over a school bus! QBT Excavating and Hotch’s Auto Parts presented this incredible night that saw Late Models, Canadian Modifieds, Thunder Stocks and Comp 4’s running three wide on the 1/3rd mile clay oval.
The Vanderlaan Building Products Late Model division had 13 starters for the 30-lap feature event. Rookie No. 41 Ryan Lambert and No. 89 Austin King would start on the front row with No. 3 Nate Rinaldi, who took home his first Late Model win in Heat 1, starting in the second row side by side with his brother Anthony Rinaldi in the No. 73. The four would battle early on with King taking the early lead until lap 7 when Lambert would claim the top spot on the high side of the track, this while keeping 2022 Champion No. 5 Steve Baldwin behind them until lapped traffic opened a lane for Baldwin to take the lead with 6 laps to go. As Baldwin took the checkers for the fourth time this season, he was followed by King, with Lambert and Rinaldi crossing at the line with only a .038 second difference in the battle for third and No. 11 Kyle Sopaz closing in the top five.
The Bainer’s OilGARD Anti Rust Canadian Modified Division was 25 laps with veteran No. 56 Pat McEvoy coming out for his first night in honour of his sponsor QBT Excavating. Early lead went to No. 5 Wally Alderdice but McEvoy would fly around the high side of the track passing him and No. 1 Shawn Gregory to take the lead. The three would run tight together for several laps allowing eighth place starter, No. 40 Ronnie Wadforth to join the battle. Eventually, Gregory would take the lead and Wadforth would chase him for the remaining laps, but Gregory would hold on. Eleventh starter No. 32 Doug O’Blenis would make a hard charge to the front of the field coming third followed by No. 2 Leslie Mowat and No. 09 Dan Price.
The Brighton Automotive Thunder Stocks started with a field of 19 cars, and #26 Brook Gregory started on the poll substituting for Steve Baldwin. Gregory would jump out to the early lead but was being chased down by 2022 Champion No. 0 Tyler French. French would take the top spot on lap 8 while Gregory was left to battle with No. 03 Justin Ramsay. Ramsay who has 3 feature wins already this season would get by Gregory on lap 16, leaving him just 4 laps to hunt down French. As hard as Ramsay would try, French was determined to get his first win on the season. Ramsay would finish second followed by Gregory, No. 17 Jeff Humphry and No. 72 Doug Anderson
The Bill’s Johns Comp 4 feature saw current point leader No. 44 Tommy Bailey start 6th and would take the lead on lap three and he would lead the remaining 12 laps. He was chased hard by No. 19 Adam Davidson who was subbing for Shannon Davidson for second, No. 15 Josh Bogaard start seventh and finished third followed by No. 20 Cody Sager and No. 55 Zach Humphry.
