A Blast from the Past with the Dirt Modified Nostalgia Tour at Brighton Speedway

Brighton Speedway welcomed the Dirt Modified Nostalgia Tour for one massive night of flashback racing, featuring vehicles from 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s! The night saw five features take to the track: Late Models, Canadian Modifieds, Thunder Stocks, Mini Stocks, and, of course, the Vintage Modified cars.

Gregorys take over the Mini Stock Feature

The 15-lap shootout began with Tyson Gregory No.22X starting on the pole, followed by points leader No.97 Kyle Gregory in second, No.1 Coleson Gregory in third, No.22 Keith Dunk in fourth, and No.91 Jack Veenstra in fifth in the starting lineup. The race began with a single file green flag after two cautions before a lap could be completed. No.22X pulled ahead, gaining a significant advantage from that single file start. No.97 Gregory attempted to close the gap between him and leader No.22X Gregory. The rest of the field trailed well behind the leaders, with No.1 Gregory and No.22 Dunk battling for third. Through the final laps the leaders No.22X Gregory and No.97 Gregory were slowed by lap traffic. That allowed No.1 Gregory to swoop in and take second from No.97 Gregory. The feature finished with No.22X Tyson Gregory in first, No.1 Coleson Gregory in second, No.97 Kyle Gregory in third, No.22 Keith Dunk in fourth, and No.91 Jack Veenstra in fifth.

Pugh takes the Vintage Modified Feature Win

The Vintage Modified 20-lap feature saw No.B7 Brian Comeau and No.17 Ian Gordon bring the field to green in first and second. Following the pair were No.66 Ryan Hegarty in third, No.2 Aaron Pugh in fourth, and No.80 Steve Barber in fifth. The first lap saw No.B7 Comeau, No.17 Gordon, and No.2 Pugh battle for the lead. Unexpectedly No.17 Gordon loses power and somehow makes it to the infield without involving other drivers in the incident. On the restart, No.B7 Comeau took the lead, with No.66 Hegarty and No.2 Pugh battling for second. Eventually, Pugh pulled ahead securing that second spot just in time before the field went yellow. On the restart, No.B7 Comeau and No.2 Pugh raced side by side through an entire lap before Pugh took the lead. The race finished with No.2 Aaron Pugh taking the win, No.B7 Brian Comeau finishing in second, No.73 Josh Powers in third, No.9 Joe August Jr. in fourth, and No.2M Scott McPhail in fifth.

Ronny “The Rocket” Wadforth does it Again

The Canadian Modified Feature saw No.97 Dave Barrett on the pole, in second No.40 Ron Wadforth, in third No.212 Adam Whaley, in fourth No.2 Leslie Mowat, and in fifth No.91 Jaiden Miller. The field went green with No.2 Mowat snagging the third position from No.212 Whaley and No.40 Wadforth taking the lead from No.97 Barrett just before the first lap was completed. Then, No.2 Mowat took the second spot leaving No.97 Barrett in third with No.29 Phil Potts following closely behind. Lap ten saw No.29 Potts take the second position, setting his sights on No.40 Wadforth who was far ahead. Unfortunately, a caution flag stacked the field once again, but it was for No.29 Potts as he spun out in turn two! With Potts at the back of the pack No.2 Mowat regained with No.1 Shawn Gregory now on her tail. It wasn’t long before Gregory took the second spot battling with No.40 Wadforth, but there wasn’t enough race left. No.40 Ron Wadforth finished first, No.1 Shawn Gregory second, No.212 Adam Whaley in third, No.2 Leslie Mowat in fourth, and No.91 Jaiden Miller in fifth.

Sandercock gets Another Win Under his Belt this Season

The 30-lap Late Model Feature began with No.3 Nathan Rinaldi on the pole. To his outside was No.50 Dylan Boyle in second, No.46 Brandon Mowat in third, No.57 Charlie Sandercock in fourth, and No.7 Anthony Rinaldi in fifth. The field went green with No.46 Mowat swiftly taking second and beginning to put pressure on No.3 Rinaldi in the lead. The pair battled it out, trading positions multiple times, but No.57 Sandercock appeared and took the second position from No.46 Mowat. Sandercock began his hunt for No.3 Rinaldi and eventually took the lead. After a caution, No.5 Steve Baldwin saw a gap between No.46 Mowat and No.3 Rinaldi battling for second and took advantage of it, leaving Mowat in fourth and Rinaldi in second. On the last lap of the feature a yellow flag slowed the field, and the restart allowed No.5 Baldwin to take second leaving no time for No.3 Rinaldi to attempt to take it back. The feature finished with No.57 Charlie Sandercock taking the win followed by No.5 Steve Baldwin in second, No.3 Nathan Rinaldi in third, No.46 Brandon Mowat in fourth, and No.50 Dylan Boyle in fifth.

Rhodes Held his own Against Last Years Thunder Stock Champion

This Feature saw No.09T Garren Taylor on the pole with No.10 Carter Rhodes to his outside. Starting in third was No.16 Kaitlyn O’Blenis, in fourth No.45 Dylan Riley, and in fifth No.0 Tyler French, last year’s Brighton Speedway Thunder Stock Champion. The feature began with No.09T Taylor and No.10 Rhodes battling for first. No.0 French made it into the third position on lap four and put pressure on the top two waiting to make his move. On lap six, No.09T Taylor got stuck behind lapped traffic and allowed No.10 Rhodes and No.0 French to go by on the outside. French followed Rhodes closely through every corner and when he decided to try the inside line, he was able to make the pass for first. The race finished with No.0 Tyler French taking the win, No.10 Carter Rhodes in second, No.26 Brock Gregory in third, No.09T Garren Taylor in fourth, and No.16 Kaitlyn O’Blenis in fifth.

Racing at Brighton Speedway continues every Saturday until October.
