Rainout Ends Opener with a Bittersweet Rainbow
By Carlin Bedore
The Brighton Speedway season opener kicked off with 86 cars hitting the track for hot laps. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans.
Brighton Speedway fans tried to brave the rain while track staff attempted to resurface the track. Despite efforts, the rain did too much damage. A beautiful double rainbow broke through the clouds as teams packed up — a bittersweet end to opening night.
Even though we did not get to the features (main events), drivers had valuable track time to warm up for the season in hot laps and some heats. Next Saturday, the season truly starts as we run this race card all over again with the addition of Gord’s Water Vantastics. However, the Canadian Modifieds will be off next week as they compete at Ohsweken Speedway on Friday night, but they’ll return to Brighton Speedway on May 23rd.
Next up, Saturday, May 16th. Five classes, one incredible night, once again featuring the Vanderlaan Building Products Northeast Late Model Alliance 40 lap event with $2026.00 to win!
Fans and drivers who attended this weekend’s event can use their tickets and pit passes next Saturday. Simply bring your original wristband (pits) or ticket stub (grandstands) to provide proof of payment. Adult Admission will be $22.00, Youths & Seniors are $16.00, Children 7 to 12 are $10.00 and Kids 6 and Under are $4.00. Pit Gates will open at 4:00 pm and Front Gates will open at 5:00 pm.
